Chapter 2: An Inspector Calls

The Detulux team are shocked when the latest INTERPOL agent assigned to their case, Inspector Jacques Russo, puts two-and-two together and realises that Detulux Incorporated the legitimate domestics supplier might have something to do with Detulux Incorporated the illegal arms trading firm.

There's a mad scramble as Inspector Russo makes a surprise visit to Detulux HQ. Will Russo find evidence of a link and arrest the team? Is Pain really dressing as Doc Holliday and putting on a terrible Southern drawl as a disguise? What does Pain's (very expensive) solicitor have to say about all this?

Episode published on Sunday 18th of December, 2016.

I originally envisioned Ben clutching a couple of small ICBM-type missiles that took up half the space of the lift but I actually prefer the more subtle route Sam took with using RPG-type rockets. It makes the scene later to come more impressive...

Title - 109: "An Inspector Calls"
Subtitle - xx. "Elevated Problems"

(Pain enters a warehouse with Russo. Slymme halts the armed police goons outside in the rain.)

Slymme: Terribly sorry, the warrant only extends the courtesy to the Inspector for the more sensitive buildings. Perhaps you would all like to have a stroll around [and preferably get lost for the next ten minutes]?

(The police entourage all look annoyed. Meanwhile, inside the warehouse, Pain gestures to the completely empty space. Off to one side is the space for a service elevator.)

Paine: There you go, Inspector! Nothing to hide!
Russo: Oui.

(Russo wipes rain water off of of his face using his tie. Slymme joins the two men.)

Russo: Although yur waréhouse eez curious-lee emptay of domestic appliancés, too.
Paine: It's been a very successful couple of months. We're waiting on new stock.

(Downstairs, in the maintenance corridors, two henchmen are running and not looking where they are going. One is carrying a box. Near them, Ben carries a crate with some boxes stacked on it.)

Henchman 1: I'm just going to grab the-
Henchman 2: I've got the last of the-

(The two men run into each other, colliding with a "THUNK".)

Henchman 1: OW!

(Both henchmen land on their backsides. The box that that second henchman was carrying spills its contents, ammunition cartridges. Ben, not being able to see where he's going due to the stack of boxes he's carrying, slips on one and topples sideways on to an empty service elevator. The crate he was carrying spills out, revealing sawdust and rockets. Another henchman, seeing Ben's fall, goes to put the box he's carrying down.)

Henchman 3: You okay, Ben?

(The henchman places the box down on the control panel, accidentally pressing the "UP" button. The lift begins ascending with a "VMMMM", taking Ben and the rockets upwards, much to the surprise of Ben.)

Henchman 3: Ben? Where you goin'?

(The Captain walks down the corridor just in time to see the clumsy henchman panicking and Ben ascending in the lift with a bunch of loose rockets.)

Captain: (under his breath) Shiiiiiitttt...

(Back up in the warehouse Russo is confronting Pain, pointing at him accusingly.)

Russo:  Ai cannot 'elp but feel zat you are 'ideng zumthéng, Mr. Paine. A domestics company wiv non domestic appliances, an armed sécuritay fairce zat rivals zat of many countrees and who réfuses to open up zeir éntiyairé opairashe-on een airdair to prove zeir innocénce.
Paine: Ahm sorry, Inspector. What are you asking for?
Russo: If ai 'ad mon wai you'd immédiate-lee sairve up a small sample of yur dirtay lit-tell secrets and give me réason to tair zis place apart!

(As if on cue the lift behind Russo ascends and Ben emerges, still picking himself up and accompanied by a pile of rockets. Pain and Slymme are absolutely stunned.)

Pain: How the flying fuck did he do that?!?

Episode tagline: Could've been worse - the rockets could have gone off when Ben dropped the box, causing a chain reaction and killing everyone! But then I've always been an optimist.
