Perseus Dyrtpype-Slymme, a.k.a. "D.P. Slymme" (or just "Slymme" to his friends), is a con-man from England currently plying his trade in France. His latest scheme is acting as a solicitor and "consultant" to criminals everywhere. Slymme picks out the most interesting cases to test his mettle against the justice system, preferring cases where the accused is clearly guilty as all hell. The catch comes when he serves the bill; Slymme is a master of exaggerating expenses and his clients are all just so happy to not be serving time that they often pay it without question.
Max Velarion has known Slymme for a reasonable length of time and keeps Slymme on a retainer to fly to Detulux's aid whenever they need it. While Detulux is one of Slymme's model clients, the only fly in the ointment comes in the form of the Detulux accountant Mara Kyler, a woman to whom the term "expenses" is considered optional and who genuinely gives Slymme nightmares.
Slymme's best friend and associate Jim "Toebiter" Moran provides him with both muscle and psychopathy, which are sometimes required when evidence or witnesses for a case need to "disappear".
