Chapter 1: Occupant Sin 4

Mr. S. Pain goes to Spain! Travelling to a remote rural location with the Captain to buy a biological weapon, Pain finds himself suddenly up against a massive cult of Spanish brainwashed zealots out for his blood.

Can the intervention of a seven-foot Scotsman and a well-dressed woman who looks suspiciously like his accountant save the day? And what role does the druggie superagent Jack Bauser play in things?

(It's basically Resident Evil 4. Seriously.)

Page Notes

Episode published on Monday 17th of November, 2008.

I apologise for the mangled Spanish - not speaking it myself, I had to resort to Google translate which everyone knows is notoriously good at mangling language. I can't remember what the guard is supposed to be saying exactly but it's something along the lines of "do you want me to get the gate guard", and then Ben says "matalo" which roughly means "get him" and so then the guard yells out to "open the gates, we have prisoners".

I couldn't resist the references to 1984's Big Brother. I can't remember if I based the "I want you" poster on the British Lord Kitchener poster or the American Uncle Sam poster - I suspect the tagline is off of the former but the basis was on the latter.

The alternate ending came about because I couldn't help but wonder why the stupidly strong Ben Nevis couldn't just murderise his way through the ranks of soldiers - realisation dawned that he could, but his comrades would probably suffer the results as they aren't muscular supermen.

"Matalo" Guy is a recurring character now. Deal with it.

Title - 65: "Occupant Sin 4"
Subtitle - xlvi. "Chain Gang"

(Ben leads Pain and the Captain through the heavily fortified grounds of Burdener's stronghold. Pain and the Captain are part of a chain gang with their hands bound in irons. Ben holds the end of the chain, disguised as a soldier and pretending that the other two are his prisoners. Some of Burdener's soldiers watch them suspiciously as they walk past. In the background is a military recruitment-style poster with Burderner pointing along with the words "I WANT YOU IN MY PARASITE CONTROLLED ARMY!").

Captain: (waving nervously at a soldier staring at him with suspicion) Hi there!
Pain: Remember, Ben, you're a brainless zombie-man. Act like one!
Ben: Erm...raargh, brains, laddie!
Pain: Never mind.

Narrator: And so-

(The gang are stopped at a set of solid gates. A large cannon is pointed at them from a nearby watchtower. On the wall is a large banner depicting Burdener's head in the manner of Big Brother from the book / film 1984 featuring the words "BIG BURDENER IS WATCHING YOU". A guard halts the trio.)

Guard: Los presos? Desea que mi consiga al tipo de puerta para usted?
Ben: Er...

(Ben looks to his "prisoners" for help, both the Captain and Pain shrug. A voice nearby catches their attention.)

Voice: Psst!

(Ben notices one of the farmers, in particular the balding one who keeps saying "matalo", hiding behind some sandbags. The farmer points at the guard and winks.)

Farmer: "Matalo"!

(Ben turns back to the guard.)

Ben: Okay...Mat...alo...Matalo.

(The guard hesitates and the turns and yells towards the gate.)

Guard: Oye, abra la puerta! Tenemos a presos!

(The gate opens. Pain leans in towards the farmer.)

Pain: Er...thanks!

(The farmer gives a thumbs up, the three head inside the fortress.)

Narrator: Inside Burdener's fortress...

(The large doors close with a loud "THUNK". In front of the trio are an angry mob of soldiers accompanied by Lord Burdener, who is still holding his Nintendo DS.)

Captain: That's not good!
Pain: Sometimes I wonder if your real name is "Obvious", Captain.

Episode tagline: You are probably wondering where the guys found the handcuffs and chains. Ben carries them around with him just in case he accidentally walks into a kitchen and finds a fridge-sized oven, so he can then tie it up to stop the burning men from jumping out. Perfectly reasonable!

(There is a non-canon bonus alternate ending. At the gate, the guard speaks to the trio and Pain and the Captain shrug at Ben like before, except this time Ben reacts by slapping the guard with his gatling gun, launching the guard into the air.)

SFX: POW!
Guard: Gragh!

(In response, the giant cannon mounted to the watchtower next to them opens fire at Pain and the Captain, exploding them in a horrible manner.)

SFX: BOOM!
Captain: AAGH!

(Ben looks down sadly at the remnants of his friends - all that remains is their feet still wearing shoes, with plumes of smoke leaving the ankles. He still holds the end of the chain, but it is no longer attached to anything.)

Ben: Oops.

(The "You Got Owned" game over screen is shown.)

Narrator: And that is why Ben cannot punch his way out of every situation.
