Chapter 1: Occupant Sin 4

Mr. S. Pain goes to Spain! Travelling to a remote rural location with the Captain to buy a biological weapon, Pain finds himself suddenly up against a massive cult of Spanish brainwashed zealots out for his blood.

Can the intervention of a seven-foot Scotsman and a well-dressed woman who looks suspiciously like his accountant save the day? And what role does the druggie superagent Jack Bauser play in things?

(It's basically Resident Evil 4. Seriously.)

Page Notes

Episode published on Sunday 20th of May, 2007.

The end of the first act of Resident Evil 4 comes when you're hurried from farmlands and countryside into a stereotypically creepy castle. I say hurried because at the time you're being pursued by a mob of angry torch-wielding farmers. The castle is actually foreshadowed as you're messing around with tram systems and caverns, in that you can see it in the distance of the background and it gets closer and closer. It also looks a lot more impressive than the sorry collection of blocks and pointy turrets I've drawn here. There was also significantly less Monty Python in the game too.

The castle is a refreshing change from the countryside. At least until the bit where monks start shooting flaming exploding siege weaponry at you and the presidential daughter you're escorting. Then it suddenly gets a bit old hat and you're missing the scenery outside and pining for the less siege catapult-y environments.

Oh, if you're wondering why the panel with the mob of farmers looks more detailed than the rest of the page, it's because I originally used an actual screenshot from the game because I was too lazy to draw the farmers. To avoid copyright scandal, I went back later and superimposed lineart over the screenshot (hence why they're all suddenly in better lighting and proportions!).

Title - 42: "Occupant Sin 4"
Subtitle - xxiii. "Spam-a-lot"

(The Captain stands in front of the retinal scanner from a few episodes ago, preparing to scan the Chief's fake eye in his hand.)

Captain: Right! I just-

(Before he has a chance to scan the eye, Ben charges the huge steel doors with a shoulder barge. They pathetically fall inward off of their hinges, slamming to the ground. Ben places his hands on his hips, admiring his handiwork. Pain looks at the glass eye the Captain is still holding out.)

Ben: Ehehheh!
Pain: Nice eye.
Captain: Screw you guys!

(The Captain throws the glass eye over his shoulder. The trio look at the vast castle in the distance. Purple lightning crackles around it ominously.)

Captain: Wow. You think that's where Burdener lives?~
Pain: It's only a model.

(Ben points at the castle melodramatically.)

Ben: Shh! To Camelot!
Pain: To Camelot!

(Pain and Ben dance off down the road while singing.)

Pain and Ben: Ohh, we're Knights of the Round Table...

(Captain turns his back on them and reflects to himself.)

Captain: Sassenfrassen Europeans...never know what the hell they're talking about...

Narrator: Five minutes later-

(Peon and Hayley flee from a mob of flaming torch wielding farmers.)

Peon: This way Hayley! We'll escape to the castle!
Farmer: Matalo!

Narrator: Meanwhile-

(Pain and the Captain stand in the castle's gateway. Looking out at the path from which they came. Behind them Ben is manning the drawbridge's massive winch.)

Pain: We really should shut this drawbridge, to stop people coming up behind us. Ben?
Ben: Aye!

(Peon drags Hayley towards the drawbridge.)

Peon: We're gonna make it!

(The drawbridge suddenly rises at top speed, due to Ben's enthusiastic turning. As a consequence, Peon almost stumbles into the crevice around the castle.)

Peon: Whoa!

(Peon and Hayley turn to face a barrier of sharp implements being waved at them. Peon pushes Hayley behind him for defence as they face a wall of angry and armed farmers.)

Peon: Erm...shit.

(Back inside the castle, various nasty noises can be heard coming from behind the drawbridge as the Detulux trio proceed into the castle.)

Pain: (knowingly) Did you hear something?
Ben: Ah thought ah heard someone say "ouch, no, not the testicles".
Captain: Probably the wind, Ben.
Ben: Aye, you're probably right.

Episode tagline: Panel 10? Pain can totally see Hayley and Peon coming up the hill followed by a horde of mad Spanish farmers. Why didn't the Captain or Ben notice? They're wearing sunglasses at night. Duh.
